Our Story

The Bertino family acquires its first small vineyard in the Langhe, a plot barely large enough to be called a hill, but with perfect exposure. It marks the beginning of a simple, rural story, made of rough hands, waiting, and small yet precious harvests.

The family grows, and with it the vineyards expand: new rows take shape among the hills of the Langhe and Roero, shaping the landscape and marking the passage of time. The word “wine” thus ceases to be merely a trade handed down: it becomes a shared passion, a deep sense of belonging, a bond with the land, and a living heritage, preserved and renewed from generation to generation.

In a family where the land sets the rhythm of the seasons and work follows the breath of nature, Fiorella Bertino is born. From childhood she grows up between the dim light of the cellar and the brightness of the vine rows, observing, listening, and learning that wine is not something to simply produce, but something to be cared for with patience, respect, and memory, like a story that matures over time.

Very young, she takes her first steps by overseeing her first micro-vinification: a Nebbiolo and an Arneis born from small quantities, yet already capable of telling much more than a simple experiment. In these early wines her stylistic signature clearly emerges: absolute precision, aromatic purity, expressive depth and a clear decision, from the very beginning, never to compromise.

The family expands its presence toward the Colli Tortonesi, an authentic territory still little told, where Timorasso slowly returns to the spotlight after years of silence. Fiorella, now young and aware, falls in love with this austere and noble grape variety, recognizing its deep character and strong identity, intuiting with sensitivity and vision the great future that awaits it.

Fiorella works between the Langhe, Roero, and Tortona, moving with curiosity and rigor across different territories, experimenting with crus, micro-parcels, and increasingly focused selections. Each vineyard becomes a dialogue for her, each harvest an opportunity for listening and deep understanding of the raw material.

With a bold step, the family acquires a property in Oltrepò Pavese, an area capable of producing some of Italy’s finest Pinot Noir. Fiorella immediately leads the agronomic conversion and decides to focus on Pinot Nero, Pinot Grigio and Riesling Renano. It is here that her most recognizable stylistic signature is born: verticality, freshness, absolute finesse.

The first bottles of the new era bear a name that is both root and promise: FIORELLA BERTINO. The brand begins to represent four territories, four souls: Langa, elegance and power. Roero, fine sands and delicacy. Timorasso of the Colli Tortonesi, mineral depth. Oltrepò Pavese, northern verticality and the nobility of Alpine-edge vineyards.

The FIORELLA BERTINO brand is not a simple label. It is the legacy of a woman who brings into her wines the character that defines her: obsessive perfectionism, total respect for the vineyard, zero shortcuts, wines that tell the silence of the hills.
